A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT’S IN THE BOX…
CHÂTEAU DE LA CÔMBE is a prominent historic estate in the town of Le Muy of Southern Provence, standing along the ancient Roman road the Via Aurelia that played an important role in Julius Caesar’s conquest of Gaul. La Cômbe stands nestled between the red cliffs of Rocher de Roquebrune and the Mediterranean sea, enjoying a tempered microclimate to produce wines true to their terroir.
The winery is family owned and operated to strict organic standards. We harvest and sort our grapes by hand. La Cômbe has a state of the art vinification cave, equipped with temperature controlled stainless steel and French Allier oak tanks and a vaulted cellar where our wines are aged.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes are vinified in oak and stainless-steel tanks. After vinification, the wine is matured in new Allier oak barrels for up to two years. Cuvée La Cômbe 2015 won the gold medal in Le Concours Général Agricole in Paris as well as the prestigious Coup De Cœur (Best in Class) in Le Guide Hachette 2018.
A powerful scents of walnuts, prunes and toasted oak: the approach is most engaging. Carried by melted and velvety tannins and a perfectly integrated noble oak, the mouth appears fulland warm from the start, round aromas of chocolate and red fruit with eau-de-vie. “Un vin solaire.”
Grilled bone-in rib-eye steak, lamb shank, mature cheeses.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes are vinified in oak and stainless-steel tanks. The wine is matured for one year in a combination of oak and stain- less-steel vats. Cuvée Lady Séverine 2017 won the gold medal in The Concours Général in Paris as well as the gold in the Concours Des Grand Vins De France A Mâcon.
The fruity nose is dominated by notes of blackberry, black cherry and pleasantly completes with hints of black pepper. A touch of cocoa embellishes the wine’s subtlety. Enduring length with gourmet aromas of cherry burlat.
Chargrilled pork escalopes, duck breast with chicory and potato dauphinoise
Viognier and Rolle grapes are vinified in both new Allier oak barrels as well as stainless steel tanks. A portion of the wine in the barrels is allowed to go through a secondary, malolactic, fermentation. All wines in barrels stay on their lees and are aged for about one year before blending. Cuvée Sasha 2016 won the gold medal in the Lyon International competition.
Powerful and elegant nose with aromas of apricot and peach with subtle notes of violet, lime-leaf, pineapple and lightly toasted acacia flower.
Lobster thermidor, asparagus risotto, salad with walnuts and smoked Scottish salmon.
